Statics- By Beer/ Johnston
Chapter 4- Static Equilibrium of Rigid Bodies

Ok now the fun part of statics begins! You already learned how to do the statics of a particles where you you set the forces in the x, y, and z equal to zero, now we are going to kick it up a notch and apply what you learned in the previous chapter about moments and add it to our analysis of forces.

So you know that an object in static equilibrium isn't moving, well it isn't spinning too. The tendency to spin in statics is measured by moments. In this chapter we will be setting all of the forces equal to zero as well as the moments. I hope you enjoy this chapter!
